Debra E. Carr

I provide individual psychotherapy to adults via my private practice. My areas of expertise are in diagnosing and treating anxiety and depressive disorders, including OCD and PTSD. My background includes intensive training and clinical work in the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents at various levels of cognitive abilities and functioning. Before focusing on private practice, my positions at Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center and NYU Child Study Center were founded in trauma-focused assessment and care. The latter included IRB-approved research studies involving assessment of, and exposure therapy for, adolescent girls and adult women experiencing PTSD related to sexual abuse. Assessment has always been an interest of mine, and I conducted Early Intervention evaluations at Northern Westchester Center for Speech Disorders as well as psychological assessments at YAI- National Insitute for People with Disabilities. I have particular interest in helping people manage and cope with life transitions, including early adult launching or relaunching, aging, roles as caregivers, and managing pain and other health issues.
