Eileen R. Wachter

Eileen Wachter is a board-certified psychiatrist and is certified in Obesity Medicine. She attended medical school at Weill-Cornell University Medical College. Dr. Wachter completed her internship in Internal Medicine and her residency in Psychiatry at The Mount Sinai Hospital, where she served as a Chief Resident. She went on to complete a fellowship in Psychotherapy there and then completed advanced training to become a psychoanalyst at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. Dr. Wachter is passionate about providing her patients with holistic, compasssionate and evidenced-based care in a safe space so that they may live their lives to the fullest.

Dr. Wachter sees patients in her private practice on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. She has clinical expertise in a broad range of conditions including anxiety and panic disorders, attention deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD), grief, life transitions, mood disorders, obesity, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), relationship difficulties and work-related stress. Dr. Wachter utilizes individual, couples and group psychotherapy in her work, along with lifestyle modification recommendations and psychopharmacology (medication) when indicated. She is currently out-of-network with all private insurance plans and does not participate in Medicare or Medicaid.

Dr. Wachter was a previous recipient of the Upjohn Company Award, bestowed each year to fifty outstanding residents in psychiatry at an annual conference of the American Psychiatric Association. As an Assistant Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell University Medical College, Dr. Wachter teaches psychiatry residents at New York Presbyterian Hospital. She received the Teacher of the Year Award for two years in a row from the psychiatry residents at the Payne Whitney Clinic-New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Wachter is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
