Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP-BC
I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with more than 25 years’ experience treating individual adults and teens, adult couples, and families of all ages. In addition to psychotherapy, I am licensed to prescribe medications.
My style is active and engaged, and I view trust, honesty and humor as key ingredients in forming an effective working relationship with my clients. I encourage you to ask questions, and I explain treatment options so that we both agree on treatment approaches and goals.
I treat the full range of mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and perinatal and postpartum mood disorders. I also treat people who simply need help in addressing circumstances that are interfering with their enjoyment of life.
I trained at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Hospital in White Plains, and I hold a Master of Science in nursing (1987) and a Master of Science in psychiatric nursing (1997). I was licensed as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in 2000, and received my board certification in 2002. My training in physical medicine gives me insight into mental health issues that may arise from physical circumstances.
My postgraduate coursework includes transference-focused psychotherapy training at the Personality Disorders Institute of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where I studied under Otto Kernberg, MD; The Family Therapy Institute of Westchester, where I received three years of training in family and couples therapy; training in cognitive behavioral therapy at New York Presbyterian Hospital; and training in treating depression and anxiety in women during the perinatal and postpartum periods.
I would be happy to speak with you and discuss your needs and questions, and to determine if working together is something you’re interested in pursuing.
