Webinar with Dr. Eliza Barach - A Deep Dive Into ADHD: Acknowledging Challenges While Bolstering Neurodivergent Strengths

Attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) is a disorder of paradoxes, with the label itself being a misnomer. ADHD is not a deficit of attention; it’s an abundance of it, and the challenge is regulating it. This challenge, nevertheless, poses an opportunity: learning to harness one’s ADHD can open the doors to flourishing. However, this requires a shift as researchers and practitioners to consider not only the challenges these individuals face but also the unique strengths they possess and the conditions under which they are able to access them. Furthermore, working to acknowledge and understand neurodivergence as a different way of thinking is crucial not only for the well-being of these individuals but also for increasing the efficacy of practitioners in the field.

Dr. Barach is a cognitive psychologist and ADHD coach, and consultant. She received her Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the State University of New York at Albany in 2021, where she used eye tracking to understand the mental processes involved in decision-making and language comprehension. She is particularly interested in the cognitive mechanisms that contribute to ADHD and what benefits are associated with such cognitive differences. Dr. Barach is the founder of Neural Revolution, an ADHD coaching practice. She helps high-performing individuals with ADHD understand and maximize their unique brain chemistry to achieve their goals. Having ADHD herself and her expertise in cognitive psychology have afforded her a unique opportunity to bridge science and the experiential to help other ADHDers succeed.
