Nancy Turret

Clinical Social Work/Therapist

Nancy Turret is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who treats individuals, couples and families in her private practice. Treatment approaches utilized vary from cognitive behavioral therapy to supportive psychotherapy. Her specialty includes providing Prolonged Grief Disorder Treatment for individuals who continue to remain stuck in an acute state of grief. As a therapist in the Complicated Bereavement Protocol, Nancy Turret provided an innovative individual psychotherapy developed by Katherine Shear, M.D. for the treatment of prolonged grief.
As a senior clinical and research psychiatric social worker at The New York State Psychiatric Institute for the past thirty-five years, Nancy administered diagnostic assessments and ongoing rating scales for the Adult and Late Life Depression Clinic as well as individual, family, and group services on the in-patient General Clinical Services Unit, and the in-patient Schizophrenic unit. Ongoing services were also delivered in outpatient departments treating affective disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders and a variety of other psychiatric illnesses.
