Since 2003, I have been helping individuals and families understand and manage anxiety, depression & other mood disorders, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, sexual & gender identity, chronic illness, grief & loss. Through a holistic, psychodynamic approach, I combine principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and stress management. I help my clients feel contained, supported and challenged to enhance awareness and coping skills, reach goals and fulfill their potential.

I am a clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience, trained in psycho-analytic psychotherapy. In addition to earning an MBA, I have developed expertise in working with professionals on career and workplace issues. Many of my referrals come from universities such as NYU.I see clients in person in Manhattan and virtually in New York, Connecticut and Florida. My areas of focus include relationship and interpersonal issues, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, substance use, medical concerns,  LGBTQ+ topics, and stressors related to acculturation and identity.

 

Laura B. Kestemberg

My career in mental health as a licensed psychologist spans more than 25 years and includes various professional roles which include running my private practice, working as a university professor, and at different points, as a clinician, clinical supervisor or director in various NYC hospitals, schools, and community clinics. My professional background of direct service, scholarly work, and teaching at the graduate and doctoral level has given me a well-rounded perspective when working alongside my patients. I feel fortunate that due to my training I can provide the most effective, cutting edge, and evidence-based techniques to my patients. I work hard to empower individuals to effectively reach their goals and gain insight into what is most concerning them. On a personal level, I am multilingual and multicultural, and I often work with clients who are navigating the intersections of their various identities related to their family of origin, culture, and religion, as well as their race, gender and sexual identity. My style is warm, down-to-earth, direct and interactive. I work with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages, either in person or through virtual sessions. I work with couples as well as individuals.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been in practice for over 20 years. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I also specialize in ACT, DBT-PE and CBT. I enjoy working with older adolescents, adults and seniors. I work with a variety of presenting problems including depression, anxiety, PTSD, maladaptive behaviors and dysregulated emotions.
I have supervised and trained other clinicians utilizing DBT.

Dr. Sarah Bren holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University. Tatyana Mestechkina, Ph.D. is the Founder and Clinical Director of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Better Living. She is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, practicing in New York, New Jersey and Florida.

She has particular expertise and interest in using evidence-based treatment for obsessive compulsive spectrum, anxiety disorders and women's issues. She was trained by a world-renowned expert in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP/ExRP), the gold-standard of OCD treatment. She often incorporates mindfulness and acceptance techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to supplement exposure work.

Caitlin MacCrate, PhD (she/her) is a licensed psychologist (NY) in private practice and at a major teaching hospital in New York City. At NYP/Columbia, Dr. MacCrate works with patients with complex, chronic health conditions, including HIV, and related behavioral and mental health concerns. She is also trained in EMDR and offers Self-Worth Coaching to high-achieving women.

Nirit Gordon

Psychologist, Ph.D.

Dr. Gordon has specialized training in trauma treatment, women's mental health and immigration. In her clinical work, she integrates relationship-focused, trauma-informed treatment with evidence-based techniques, including EMDR.

Dr. Gordon received her M.A. from the Transdisciplinary Violence and Trauma Studies Program at New York University and completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at New York University’s Department of Applied Psychology.
Nirit is an EMDR Supervisor (consultant) and offers training about using EMDR within the treatment of women's mental health, treating trauma and providing trauma informed care.

Michelle Gelband

Master Social Worker, LMSW, MPH

I specialize in sexual health, chronic pain, maternal mental health, and couples therapy. My clinical experience includes working in high-volume OB/GYN settings at Mount Sinai Hospital and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where I supported patients navigating complex reproductive, mental health, and psychosocial challenges. I’m passionate about creating a warm, supportive space where clients can openly explore topics that are often stigmatized or difficult to discuss, including pain during sex, desire, body image, perinatal mental health, and the grief that can accompany difficult diagnoses.
