I was a tenured professor for many years at Fordham University. Using the findings from a three-year qualitative research project, I wrote a book for professionals and parents on the internal world of mothers who are "torn in two" as they attempt to care for their struggling adult children and their own needs as they age. The book is Difficult: Mothering Challenging adult children through conflict and change, 2022. I now offer 10-week support groups for mothers (by zoom), as well as work individually with parents who seeking help in balancing their needs with the needs of their adult children.
