Dr. Allison Bauer is a postdoctoral fellow at Silver Therapy Group, a women-led group practice located on the Upper West Side. Dr. Bauer has a passion to support individuals to thrive. Her areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, reproductive mental health, grief/loss, ADHD, emerging adulthood, relationship concerns, and life transitions. Dr. Bauer is particularly motivated to enhance women’s mental health by working with patients across the lifespan. She understands the importance of women helping other women navigate varying challenges, such as puberty and adolescence, infertility, third party reproduction, postpartum adjustment, the transition to parenthood, and menopause.

Dr. Bauer utilizes an evidence-based, integrative approach, tailoring treatment to the unique needs of each individual in order to not only reduce distress but also enhance well-being. She fosters a warm, collaborative environment, in which she both honors an individual’s expert knowledge of themselves, while also providing them with tools to cope and flourish.

Dr. Bauer obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and her doctoral degree from Hofstra University. She has varied experience in both clinical and school settings. Dr. Bauer completed her pre-doctoral internship at Zucker Hillside Hospital’s Behavioral Health College Partnership, where she provided therapy to young adults, including undergraduate and graduate students. She has experience working in elementary, middle, and high school settings. Dr. Bauer was the recipient of the 2024 Ted Bernstein Award, recognizing her exceptional work supporting youth and their families.

Dr. Bauer’s doctoral dissertation focused on the creation and implementation of Positive Bereavement interventions to support adults healing from the loss of a loved one and navigating prolonged grief. Her dissertation was nominated for the H. Alan Robinson Award, which recognizes outstanding, innovative doctoral research.

In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, watching movies, arranging flower bouquets, and going to the beach.
