Dr. Alexia Electris is a licensed clinical psychologist, creative arts therapist, and co-founder of Thalassa Psychological Services. She specializes in women’s mental health across the lifespan, including infertility, pregnancy loss, postpartum adjustment, parenting, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. She also works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

Dr. Electris's professional journey began in creative arts therapy and continued with doctoral training in Clinical Psychology, where she developed a strong foundation in psychodynamic theory and practice. During her postdoctoral years, she worked as a consultation-liaison psychologist in a Level I trauma hospital, providing psychological care to children, adolescents, adults, and families in pediatric, maternity, and burn units. These experiences deepened her understanding of how individuals and families cope with trauma, loss, illness, caregiving, and major life transitions. Her broad clinical experience and longstanding interest in facilitating deep and lasting change later led her to pursue advanced training in experiential psychotherapies, including AEDP and ISTDP.

Her background in both psychology and the creative arts gives her a unique understanding of the creative process and the challenges often faced by artists, writers, performers, and other creative professionals. She frequently works with individuals navigating creative blocks, perfectionism, self-doubt, and periods of personal or professional stuckness.

Dr. Electris works primarily with adults, while also maintaining a specialty in work with children, adolescents, and families. She has a particular interest in supporting parents as they navigate the challenges of caregiving, child development, family relationships, and the evolving demands of parenthood. Her practice integrates psychodynamic, experiential, attachment-based, and creative approaches to support emotional growth, resilience, and meaningful change.

In addition to her clinical practice, she serves on faculty at New York University, facilitates a weekly process group for psychiatry residents, and provides supervision and consultation to psychologists, social workers, creative arts therapists, and other mental health professionals.
