Alizah K. Lowell, LCSW-R, CEDS-C is a licensed clinical social worker and psychoanalyst in private practice in New York and New Jersey. She is a graduate of Columbia University School of Social Work and the William Alanson White Institute’s Psychoanalytic Program. Alizah has worked with individuals, couples and families and done group work in different settings ranging from non-profit organizations to specialized hospital units.
Alizah is the founder of AKL Therapy, a group practice focusing on eating disorders, body image concerns, and perinatal mental health. In addition to these specialties, Alizah sees a diverse clientele of individuals seeking short-term or longer-term psychotherapy for a variety of reasons, including: self-exploration, relationship issues, life transitions, depression and anxiety, workplace or school difficulties, among other issues. Alizah also works with couples looking to develop a better understanding of their dynamics and patterns of relating to one another, work on communication skills, manage crises and navigate transitions.
Alizah supervises clinicians at all stages of their careers working in different mental health settings. She provides consultation and presentations to organizations and other practitioners on topics related to eating disorders, the disordered eating spectrum and body image.
