I’m a psychiatrist specializing in intensive psychotherapy for adolescents and adults. I work from psychoanalytic and transference-focused frameworks. In practice, that means I pay close attention to what’s happening in the room: the patterns patients bring in without realizing it, how we manage closeness, and what we avoid. I name what I notice as it’s happening, and I stay with what’s uncomfortable rather than rush past it.

Much of my work is about what gets passed down in families and how families are made. I treat previvors, survivors, and families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, including BRCA and related syndromes, where living with known risk shapes decisions about the body, family planning, and the future. I also see donor-conceived people and families built through IVF, donor conception, surrogacy, or adoption, including LGBTQ+ families who’ve used reciprocal IVF or induced lactation. Themes of identity, disclosure, genetic relationships, and parenting roles are often central to these conversations.

I studied sociology at Harvard and earned my MD and MPH at SUNY Downstate. I completed my adult psychiatry residency at NYU Langone and my child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian. I trained in transference-focused psychotherapy and am now a psychoanalytic candidate at Columbia. I also teach and supervise Columbia psychiatry residents and child psychiatry fellows at the New York State Psychiatric Institute.

I typically meet with patients two or more times per week, and I provide medication management for patients engaged in intensive psychotherapy, whether with me or with another clinician. I also offer shorter-term work around specific decisions, such as genetic testing, risk-reducing surgery, or family building. I practice in person on the Upper West Side and via telemedicine in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. I’m out-of-network for most insurance plans, though many provide partial reimbursement for out-of-network psychiatric care.
