Allison Patterson

I am a New York State Licensed Psychologist and Certified School Psychologist. I have a private practice located on the Upper East Side, NYC (82nd and 3rd Avenue).

I provide individual and group psychotherapy, parent counseling and education and complete evaluations at my office location with a playroom. In addition to the office location, I provide counseling to preschool through school age children in the preschool and private school setting.

Individual and group therapy sessions can occur in either the child’s school environment or at the office location depending on the need of the child. I work in the naturalistic setting to help children learn the necessary skills needed while struggles occur and to maximize their potential in their school setting. At the office location, skills are developed in an environment with minimal distractions and cognitively explored individually or in a small group context. I utilize cognitive behavioral strategies and have a strong behavioral background. I offer parent sessions to help parents develop strategies for the home environment. My expertise is in socialization skills, behavior management, anxiety, and emotional regulation. I collaborate with parents, schools, and other related service providers to improve school and home functioning. I believe strongly that collaboration is important to maximize success and the most effective way to enact positive change.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University, and my Doctorate in School-Clinical Child Psychology from Pace University. I provided counseling for the NYC Department of Education, served as a School Psychologist for an elementary school, Chairperson for the Committee on Special Education, and Therapist and Psychological Evaluator at Mount Sinai University Hospital (Nursery-Teen). I am a Professor and have taught Developmental Psychology, Consultation with Teachers in the Schools, and Psychological Testing.

I use my experience to provide quality treatment to children and families in the New York City area. I have a passion for helping young children meet their potential and believe that guiding, intervening and providing support early is ideal for long term success.
