I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been in practice since 2006. Most recently, I was the Chief Program Officer at a non-profit in NYC that serves homeless veterans, families and LGBTQ+ individuals, and I stepped down after nearly 10 years with the organization to pursue private practice. I also taught at Columbia's Graduate School of Social Work for six years as an instructor of addictions and substance dependencies. I have been trained in ACT, Prolonged Exposure, and CBT. I work with individuals and couples, and I specialize in anxiety, depression, grief, loss and relationship issues. I am Latina and live in NYS. I am in network and accept the following insurances. Aetna, Optum, Cigna, United Health Care, and Oscar Health. I have openings available.

I pursued a career in social work because I was driven to help others understand their emotions and their potential to achieve their goals. I have always felt an empathic connection to people who need an advocate and a voice. Over the years, I have helped clients navigate areas related to emotional trauma, culture, identity, and relationships because I recognize the importance of feeling understood and accepted.

I was raised in a matriarchal, immigrant family from Puerto Rico and Cuba where family was central to everything. My relationships and cultural values provided me with the structure to move me toward social work with a focus on trauma treatments. I have worked with various populations, including veterans, LGBTQI young adults, and families facing challenges related to trauma, addiction, and gender normative pressures. As a New Yorker, I have worked in the Bronx, Harlem, and Syracuse, which has provided me with an understanding of the importance of feeling connected to a community. My approach to therapy is warm, nonjudgmental, and direct.
