Clinical Services:

Brealyn Sellers, MD is in independent private practice in New York City and is board certified in both general adult psychiatry and addiction psychiatry.  In this setting, Dr. Sellers provides evidence based psychopharmacological services for a wide array of psychiatric illness, including substance use disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and attention deficit disorder among many others.

In her work as an addiction psychiatrist, Dr. Sellers treats addictions of all types, and provides comprehensive services tailored to address the specific needs of each patient.  These services include outpatient detoxification from opiates and alcohol, office based opiate maintenance therapy, consultation and referral to intensive treatment facilities, and psychopharmacological treatment of co-occurring psychiatric illness. Dr. Sellers works pragmatically utilizing alternative and complementary approaches as indicated in addition to maintaining a referral base of supportive services including hypnosis, acupuncture, nutrition, fitness services,  substance specific support groups and sober coaching .

Dr. Sellers also provides individual psychotherapy and coordination of care amongst co-treaters, including physicians treating co-occurring medical issues or pregnancy. Dr. Sellers strongly believes that close communication between all health care providers involved in a patient’s care is essential to arriving at the best possible outcome.

Forensic Services: 

In her capacity as a board certified addiction psychiatrist, Dr. Sellers provides expert witness services in numerous civil cases involving issues related to substance use, such as personal injury associated with methadone maintenance and improper prescribing of prescription pain medications.  She also provides comprehensive individual psychiatric evaluations for the purposes of various legal proceedings and consultations with attorneys.
