I am a licensed clinical social worker with 17 years of experience providing trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care to adults in NY. As a first-generation Asian American born in Colombia, I am committed to providing a non-judgmental and inclusive space for all to work towards making meaningful change that aligns with their values and goals.

Areas of focus in my practice include anxiety, depression, loss and grief, difficult family dynamics/roles, and racial and cultural identity. Additionally, I specialize in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) and support individuals encountering challenges from pregnancy through the postpartum period and the transition to parenthood.

I completed my M.S.W. at New York University, Silver School of Social Work and have a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Columbia College/University. Prior to private practice, I trained and worked across a wide range of treatment settings including a trauma program at a community-based mental health clinic, the Center for Special Studies (HIV care) and the Payne Whitney Adult Outpatient Clinic (Psychiatry) at NY Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell.

If you have any questions and would like to learn more about my practice, email me at catalinabaelcsw@gmail.com to schedule a brief phone or video consultation.
