Christina’s approach to treatment is collaborative and research-driven with high prioritization on each patients’ individual needs and life goals. While medication management plays a distinct and important role in the treatment of varying mental health issues, she strongly believes in the importance of adjunct therapy and the behavioral changes that can be utilized to effectively live a healthy, happy, and productive life. Christina’s practice embraces the ideal and gold standard that psychiatric treatment is a dynamic and evolving process and patients can expect healing and continual growth when engaging in treatment with her.
Christina holds two Master’s Degrees from Columbia University in Psychiatry (MSN) and Advanced Clinical Practice (MSW) with a sub-specialty in addiction. She is a board certified, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who treats adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. She has worked extensively in inpatient and outpatient settings, and places special attention on ensuring culturally competent treatment for all of her patients.
Before expanding into private practice, Christina implemented and headed up the Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Department during the transition of Downtown Hospital to what is now known as New York Presbyterian-Lower Manhattan Hospital. Along with the department’s successful integration and growth within the hospital’s system (including the launch of Tele-psychiatry), Christina provided specialty consultation services and treatment for all of the acute and on-going complex medical and psychiatric patients, which provides her with the unique and expanding ability to take on any and all types of challenging cases. Christina is also a Schwartz Center facilitator whose training focuses on supportive therapies and interventions specialized for medical professionals whose work is exceptionally time demanding and high stress, which is applicable to many New Yorkers who work in similar types of demanding professions.
Christina is a firm believer in the Mind-Body connection and its role in maintaining a person’s mental health and overall well-being. As a trained Ballerina and Yogi, she ascribes both personally and professionally to the effectiveness of Mindfulness and Meditation which is the foundation for both of these disciplines. Subsequently these techniques and interventions can be integrated into her practice with her patients.
