Dr. Dan Wolfson works individually with teens and adults with a range of presenting problems from a relational framework, with a particular expertise surrounding grief and loss. In addition to his therapy practice, Dr. Wolfson is the founder of Experience Camps' Adult Grief Retreat, and served as a regional clinical director for their week-long children's grief camps from 2013-2023. Prior to launching Wolfson Therapy, he was a supervising Staff Psychologist at Rennicke & Associates in downtown Manhattan, an adjunct faculty member at the NYU Center for Counseling, and a post-doctoral fellow at Columbia University's Center for Prolonged Grief, where he developed expertise in the highly effective modality of Prolonged Grief Treatment (PGT.) He has also pursued advanced training in the relational, attachment-oriented models of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).
"I believe that the power of therapy starts with the client-therapist relationship. When we work together, you are getting the genuine me, just as I hope to get to know the genuine version of you. While we will of course strive to make the space for challenging emotions together, I also hope to create space for moments of lightness, as I believe we need to both lean in to and lean back from challenges in order to adapt and grow.
I work in a collaborative way to help individuals get the most out of their experience, and focus not only on challenges or stressors, but also on one’s unique strengths. With a combination of evidence-based techniques and a relationship-driven foundation, we will work together to identify and strive towards your goals."
