Dr. Owens earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from St. John's University in 2007. She completed her APA accredited clinical internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Northwell/Long Island Jewish Medical Center where she later developed a specialized therapy service for children, adolescents and families struggling to cope with Anxiety and OCD.

She has held academic appointments at Columbia University Medical Center, The Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and St. John's University and has been involved in the training of psychologists and other mental health professionals for over 15 years.

Dr. Owens has dedicated her career to the treatment of anxiety and OCD, having completed intensive training in this area at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She also completed specialized training in evidence-based therapies for trauma, tics, and depression, and was awarded national Board Certification in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology in 2015.

Dr. Owens is especially passionate about empowering girls and women, addressing the unique stress they face throughout various life stages. Her commitment to their growth and development reflects her understanding of the challenges women face related to ongoing changes in biology, relationships, and caregiving roles throughout the lifespan.
