Dr. Michelle Humi , a New York State licensed clinical psychologist, provides a warm and empathetic approach to her individual therapy sessions with preteens, adolescents, young adults, and adults. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, mood difficulties, learning challenges, and relationship issues. She also has expertise in therapeutic parenting work, which enables her to effectively improve family dynamics and child behavior. Dr. Humi builds rapport and a collaborative partnership with her clients, making them feel both comfortable and truly understood while integrating Cognitive Behavioral and psychodynamic therapeutic techniques.

Dr. Humi obtained her doctorate from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University in the Clinical Health Psychology Program. She completed her APA-Accredited pre-doctoral internship in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology at Schneiders Children Hospital where she received specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat a wide range of conditions, including anxiety and mood disorders, borderline personality disorder, disordered eating, OCD, ADHD, and behavioral issues. This extensive training in conjunction with psychodynamic and somatic therapeutic work are integrated into Dr. Humi’s clinical work.

Following her internship, Dr. Humi completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Mental Health Association of Westchester, where she gained additional training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, working with families, parents, and children.

For 16 years, Dr. Humi served as C0 Director of the Mental Health Team and School Psychologist at SAR High School. While in the position, she built the Health Program, ran and developed parenting programs, and supported many students, teachers, and families.

In her private practice, Dr. Humi seeks to understand the presenting concerns of her clients from a developmental and family systems perspective and provides her clients with concrete strategies that are integrated into the therapeutic works. Her experience with CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic and somatic work all inform her therapeutic strategies. Dr. Humi helps her clients attain a deeper understanding of themselves as well as helps them manage difficult presenting issues and life transitions.
