Dr. Rachael James is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice providing psychotherapy to adults, couples, and adolescents. She works with clients struggling with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship and attachment difficulties, emotion dysregulation, and perinatal issues. She takes an integrative approach to care, drawing from multiple treatment modalities including acceptance based CBT, psychodynamic, and attachment-focused approaches such as EFT. Her clients benefit from her warm, collaborative, and supportive therapeutic style combined with extensive knowledge about how to help individuals and couples get unstuck from painful thoughts and feelings, engage in healthier behaviors, and take steps to live more authentic and fulfilled lives.
Dr. James earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University and her B.A. in Psychology from Cornell University. She completed her clinical internship at the James J. Peters (Bronx VA) Medical Center where she received specialized training in the treatment of trauma-related disorders and her postdoctoral fellowship at a large group practice in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She has extensive experience training and practicing in a wide variety of settings, such as inpatient and veterans hospitals, community mental health clinics, and private practice.
