I'm a passionate and creative British mental health counselor with experience working in addiction, with justice-impacted individuals and families, and with women with serious mental illness and in life stage transitions. My background is in the arts, and before moving to New York I lived in Senegal and France.
In my work with patients I use deep and active listening, sincerity and humor. Our sessions are a safe space for patients to nurture their strengths and better understand and care for their vulnerabilities. In doing so, we work together to support them in reaching their goals both inside and - most importantly - outside of the therapy office. I primarily use psychodynamic and relational frameworks to understand patients' thoughts, feelings and behaviors and to nurture the change they seek.
I have an MSEd in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College, and a BA in History of Art and French from University College London. My clinical work has provided me with a strong grounding in working with individuals who have experience of trauma, an area in which I continue to educate myself and seek new training. I have worked with clients in many different life stages and from a diversity of backgrounds, and currently work at Katarzyna Dlugosz Mental Health Counseling group practice. I provide sessions both in-person and remote.
