Dr. Shelov earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. Her doctoral research was one of the pioneer clinical studies (2008) that examined the importance of yoga on both mindfulness and emotional well-being. During her training, she worked at Montefiore Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, Columbia Psychiatric Institute, and completed her APA Internship at Maimonides Medical Center. Prior to starting a private practice, Danielle worked at Columbus Park Collaborative: Day Treatment Center for Eating Disorders.
Dr. Shelov also specializes in couples work, utilizing her EFT and systems trainings.
Danielle frequently lectures on eating disorder treatment to other mental health professionals. She also leads workshops and group seminars in the area of food and behavior. Most importantly, she conceptualizes eating disorders as treatable-- it is about finding the right plan for each individual.
Dr. Danielle Shelov utilizes a combination of Systems Theory and Attachment Theory, as well as concrete cognitive and behavioral skills in her work with patients. Having worked in the field of eating disorders for over 10 years in New York City, this continues to be her primary area of expertise, particularly with adolescents and 20-somethings.
Dr. Shelov currently supervises and trains pre-licensed Psychologists and Newly licensed psychologists in her practice.
