Elizabeth Baron

I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and psychotherapist.  I received a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University’s Teachers College.

With a primary focus on maternal mental health, I am passionate about the transition into and through motherhood-- from the preconception stage and pregnancy, through early childhood development and parenting. As a therapist at The Motherhood Center of New York, I developed my expertise in treating Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. I am deeply committed to destigmatizing maternal mental illness and helping women through all stages of motherhood, both in treatment and by advocating for their needs in the systems they are in.

I have worked in outpatient clinics, in day program treatment, as well as college and graduate student counseling programs focusing on attachment, difficult life transitions, family theory, and cross-cultural issues. These experiences have given me the unique ability to meet the diverse needs of women, adolescents, families and couples. With a lifelong interest in holistic health, I support the integration of different practices for optimal wellness and believe in coordinating care for the mind, spirit and body.
