Mental Health Counselor, LMHC
Elizabeth Baron, LMHC, is a New York State licensed mental health counselor. Elizabeth received her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University’s Teacher College.
Elizabeth’s clinical experience has focused on developing her specialty in maternal mental health. She has worked in an outpatient clinic, in day program treatment, as well as college and graduate student counseling programs. These experiences have given her the unique ability to meet the diverse needs of women, adolescents, families and couples. With a lifelong interest in holistic health, she supports the integration of different practices for optimal wellness and believes in combining care for the body and self.
Elizabeth has focused on attachment, difficult life transitions, family theory, cross-cultural issues and most recently, the emotional physical mental and behavioral shift in a woman and family’s life during the perinatal time period.
Her clinical passion for the transition into and through motherhood – from the preconception stage through early childhood development and parenting led her to The Motherhood Center. There she served in two complementary roles which have allowed her to be involved in both external relations and treatment.
On the education side, she has been in the treatment room with women struggling with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) which has allowed her the opportunity to tap into resources and begin outreach with companies and communities in innovative ways to support the care of more mothers. She is working to destigmatize maternal mental illness and is passionate about helping women through all stages of motherhood, both in treatment and by advocating for their needs in the systems they are in.
Her unique position at The Motherhood Center today helps to give voice to those who are struggling to find theirs while also getting the public to listen and better understand PMADs. She is a member of Postpartum Support International and the American Psychological Association.
Elizabeth Baron is also in Private Practice.
