My name is Dr. Emily Rebenstock and I am a clinical psychologist (licensed in NY and NJ) who treats adolescents, adults and couples. I primarily work with individuals and couples who are struggling with aspects of their identity, sexuality and/or gender expression, navigating difficult life transitions, parenthood, and relationship challenges. Additionally, I have specialized training in treating women and birthing-people with perinatal anxiety, depression, and OCD. My approach is warm, collaborative and insight-oriented.
I completed my post-doctoral fellowship at The Motherhood Center of New York, where I developed a specialty in treating mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and postpartum. Becoming a parent is a monumental, life-altering experience. Whether you are experiencing shifts in mood, anxiety or panic attacks, difficulty bonding with your baby/pregnancy, intrusive thoughts, challenges communicating with your partner, loss/grief, or just struggling because the experience is different than you expected it would be, you are not alone, and therapy can help.
I also work with LGBTQIA+ individuals. I aim to create a therapeutic alliance in which you feel supported and safe enough to explore the varied and unique aspects of your identity, challenge the influences that are keeping you stuck, and gain a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and overall sense of self.
My therapeutic orientation is grounded in my belief that a strong therapeutic relationship is a meaningful part of the work we do. I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches including relational psychotherapy, CBT, skills-based DBT, and trauma-processing while tailoring my interventions to target your specific goals. At a pace that feels right for you, we will explore underlying patterns to help you feel more supported, empowered, and intentional in your life and in your relationships.
