My name is Dr. Emily Rebenstock and I am a clinical psychologist (licensed in NY and NJ) who treats adolescents, adults and couples. I primarily work with individuals and couples who are struggling with aspects of their identity, navigating difficult life transitions, parenthood, and relationship challenges. My practice is trauma-informed and LBGTQ+ affirming. Additionally, I have specialized training in treating perinatal anxiety, depression, and OCD. My approach is warm, collaborative and insight-oriented.

I completed my post-doctoral fellowship at The Motherhood Center of New York, where I developed an expertise in treating mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and postpartum. Becoming a parent is a monumental, life-altering experience. Whether you are experiencing shifts in mood, anxiety or panic attacks, difficulty bonding with your baby/pregnancy, intrusive thoughts, challenges communicating with your partner, loss/grief, or just struggling because the experience is different than you expected it would be, you are not alone, and therapy with a trusted professional can help.

I also specialize in treating LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples. I work to create a non-judgemental space to explore the varied and unique aspects of your identity. Many members of the LGBTQ+ community seek therapy for the same reason others do - for anxiety, depression, dissatisfaction in relationships, feelings of isolation, loss, trauma or uncertainty. For members of the LGBTQ+ community, I understand these human issues can be compounded by shame, guilt, trauma and fear when aspects of identity are not embraced or accepted. Self-discovery, coming out, and navigating societal oppression make the human conditions all the more complicated. Processing these experiences with a trusted professional can help. No matter where you are in the process of self-exploration and acceptance, I will meet you where you are, to help you get where you want to go.

My therapeutic orientation is grounded in my belief that a strong therapeutic relationship is a meaningful part of the work we do. I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches including relational psychotherapy, CBT, skills-based DBT, and trauma-processing while tailoring my interventions to target your specific goals. At a pace that feels right for you, we will explore underlying patterns to help you feel more supported, empowered, and intentional in your life, and in your relationships. I am warm, curious and active in sessions. With me, you won't get a blank face, but a partner in the work you want to do.

I am currently a staff psychologist and supervisor at The Motherhood Center's Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). I also see individuals and couples in my private practice.
