Dr. Langer is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at The Centered Space providing individual psychotherapy to adults using an integrative approach. Therapeutic treatment with Dr. Langer is guided by principles of Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and is informed by DBT and Family Systems Theory. Above all else, Dr. Langer believes in the importance of the therapist-patient relationship, providing a supportive space, and working collaboratively to help clients make changes, gain insight, and improve their lives.
Dr. Langer has worked extensively with patients with mood and anxiety disorders, relationship issues and those dealing with life transitions. In addition, her specialties include providing therapy for pregnant and postpartum patients and individuals dealing with infertility, reproductive issues, premature birth and birth trauma, adjustment to parenthood, and special needs parenting.
Dr. Langer received her B.A. in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was a member of the National Honor’s Society in Psychology. She earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University- C.W. Post. Clinical work was completed at the C.W. Post Psychological Services Center, Nassau University Medical Center, the Yeshiva University Counseling Center, and New York Presbyterian Hospital, Westchester Division. During her internship at the Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy, she worked with patients with mood and anxiety disorders and received specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Her postdoctoral training was in anxiety, perfectionism, and reproductive mental health.
Dr. Langer lives in New York City with her husband and two children. After her son was diagnosed with Autism in 2014, she gained extensive knowledge in Early Intervention, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and Special Education. Parenting a child with special needs can be challenging. Dr. Langer utilizes her personal and professional knowledge to provide support and guidance.
