Heather Thomas is a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and mindfulness meditation teacher who believes that everyone has an innate human capacity for healing and flourishing. She views therapy as an empowering resource that can help you access the qualities of your wisest Self and the motivations that are aligned with your deepest values.

Heather’s approach in working with individuals and couples is collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed. Her central aim is to help you develop a kind, caring relationship with yourself and with your own inner experience. Drawing from methodologies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindful Self-Compassion, Relational Life Therapy, and Polyvagal Theory, she incorporates evidence-based practices to help you gain confidence in your capability to regulate your emotions and calm your nervous system. Heather also uses an attachment theory and family systems framework to help you heal the past relational wounds that may have kept you feeling stuck in unsatisfying relationship dynamics. She can help you learn relational mindfulness skills that are essential to cultivating authentic, connected relationships in every dimension of your life.

Heather is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC-D) in the state of New York. She is also a registered Telehealth provider in the state of Florida. She received a Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University. She is a meditation and self-compassion teacher with certifications from the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program (MMTCP), Mindful Leader, and the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion. Heather has led wellness workshops and therapy groups for New York City government and healthcare agencies, including Bellevue Hospital, as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counselor. Heather also holds a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Washington University in St. Louis and had a prior career in the financial technology sector.
