I am a licensed master social worker and psychotherapist at Union Square Practice. I work with children, teens, adults, and perinatal women struggling with adjustment, anxiety, depression, and other difficulties that arise during major life transitions.
My approach is holistic and dynamic, rooted in relational theory-- a therapeutic perspective that emphasizes the critical role of our past and present relationships in mental health. I also use aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as well as trauma-informed and attachment-based interventions. When working with new moms and parent-infant dyads, baby is invited to join us in the baby-proofed therapy room to play, explore, and strengthen the bond between the parent and child.
I work collaboratively with patients to identify and target their most pressing concerns; then we explore their personal history to make crucial connections. I believe our past experiences and early relationships hold the data we need to help us better understand our present-day coping systems and internal narratives. With this insight, we can make lasting change within ourselves and our relationships.
I completed my Bachelor’s Degree at Barnard College, prior to earning my Masters in Social Work from Columbia School of Social Work. I completed my clinical training in parent-infant psychotherapy at The Motherhood Center of New York, and went on to complete the Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the William Alanson White Institute. I am a current candidate in the Child and Adolescent Program at IPTAR.
I am currently accepting new patients, both in person and virtually, and would be happy to schedule a free phone or Zoom consultation.
