I have been a NYS licensed clinical psychologist (bilingual Spanish) since 2009, as well as a licensed psychologist in Venezuela since 2002, with over 20 years of experience. After moving to the US in 2003 and working in hospital settings, I transitioned to full time private practice in 2018. My clinical, testing, and research training, as well as work in different hospitals and community settings in Caracas, Venezuela and throughout New York City (Bellevue, Beth Israel, Kings County, New York Presbyterian and, Mount Sinai St. Luke’s),  have given me experience with a wide range of ages (i.e. pregnancy and newborn to geriatric populations); socio-economical, cultural, ethnical, and gender orientation/identity backgrounds; psychiatric conditions; treatment modalities and assessments; and evidence based practices (i.e. trauma).

Some of my areas of work include trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use, chronic medical conditions, and immigration adjustment within a multicultural, attachment, neurobiological and psychodynamic relational perspective. I have also served as a clinical supervisor and professor in these areas for over 10 years.

My experience has allowed me to utilize and integrate different theories to serve the patient without imposing a certain frame of work while building a collaborative understanding, within the therapeutic relationship, of the individual’s internalized narrative(s). This therapeutic process helps to deconstruct automatic notions that maintain functions of unhealthy patterns of emotional regulation, relatedness, and behaviors.
