Mental Health Counselor, LMHC, Ed.D.
Mental Health Counselor - Private Practice - New York State - 2005 - Present
I am a seasoned therapist who works with individuals and couples. I do process-oriented group therapy.
I have a background in dance therapy and speciality in sport couseling.
I have a radically relational approach that is based on "yes, and.." the guiding principle of improvisation. It's "yes, I heard you and I am adding to, building with what I heard." We learn to listen and respond to each other--a lifelong growthful endeavor. With improv, we work on one of the most challengeing tasks humans face: to get comfortable with uncertainty. When we are comfortable with uncertainty, we are open to growing.
My relationships with my clients aren't just "spaces" in which therapy takes place; the building of those relationships is the therpay. Sometimes, I make the analogy that therapy with me is like a workout with a personal trainer - a gentle one - my clients and I workout our relationship-building muscles. We are better at building relationships in our lives. Healthy relationships are the secret to a joyful life.
