Joey Ackerman (She/Her)

Joey Ackerman, LCSW-R, is a dedicated and experienced psychotherapist with a specialization in Cognitive Behavioral and Psychodynamically Oriented Therapy. Her practice is rooted in the belief that therapy should be a collaborative process tailored to the unique needs and goals of each client. Joey's work focuses on fostering a constructive, client-centered approach that prioritizes well-being and empowers individuals to navigate life’s challenges.

Joey works with a diverse range of clients, including young adults, professionals, and creatives, offering a compassionate and supportive environment where they feel seen, heard, and understood. She addresses a broad spectrum of clinical concerns, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment issues, bereavement, relational conflicts, OCD, and a variety of phobias.

Her academic journey began at the University of Massachusetts, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. She then pursued her passion for mental health and counseling by obtaining her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the Silver School of Social Work at New York University. Beyond her formal education, Joey has completed extensive post-master training in areas that deepen her expertise, including Mindfulness, Eating Disorder Treatment, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and addressing suicidality in children and adolescents.
