Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW
I am a licensed clinical social worker with a private practice on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I work with women of all ages and stages of development, as well as families and couples. I also work with younger children and adolescents as part of family treatment and individually as needed.
My areas of special focus include relationships, family and life transitions, parenting, adoption, depression and anxiety, adolescent development, grief/loss, and complex families. I offer groups and workshops on parenting, stress managment, family dynamics and other topics, as well as supervision for LMSW's and other clinicians.
My approach is strengths-based, and I try to help clients gain insight as well as build skills and confidence that will lead to stronger relationships and more fulfillment in their lives outside of therapy. I look at all individuals within the framework of their relationships. I work with my clients to strengthen positive connections and understand more about all of their relationships past and present in order to promote healing and help sort through whatever difficulties they may be currently facing.
As a voracious reader and a former journalist and editor, I am endlessly curious about the stories we carry, and the different lenses through which we view the world. I believe that individual and family issues cannot be separated from the social, cultural and political context in which they exist, and I help my clients deepen an understanding of those factors and how they play out in their lives. Married for 30 years and a parent to three young adults, I bring years of personal and pofessional experience to my work.
