I'm Kimarie Knowles, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Washington, DC, with 20 years of experience in mental health and psycho-oncology.

Throughout my career, I've supported individuals navigating illness, caregiving, grief, loss, and significant life transitions, including the emotional challenges of diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, chronic illness, and bereavement.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing on advanced training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP Level 2), meaning-centered psychotherapy, and prolonged grief therapy, as well as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, and group psychotherapy. I believe in creating a warm, collaborative space where individuals feel seen, understood, and supported as they navigate difficult emotions, explore questions of meaning and purpose, and find ways to move forward through life's challenges.

I'm a founding partner of Illumine Counseling and an adjunct professor at NYU's Silver School of Social Work. I've also published and presented nationally on topics including chronic cancer, survivor guilt, fear of recurrence, and grief and bereavement.
