Psychologist, Psy.D.
Dr. Keara Mageras is a licensed clinical psychologist based in New York City who works with adults across diverse backgrounds. Her practice focuses on anxiety and worry, relationship and interpersonal patterns, stress management, and the questions of identity and meaning that often surface during major life and career transitions.
Dr. Mageras believes lasting change grows out of a strong therapeutic relationship, and she works to build one with each client. Her approach is integrative, drawing on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic therapy as each person's needs require. She sees the goal of therapy as twofold: easing suffering and helping clients build a fuller, more meaningful life.
Dr. Mageras earned her Psy.D. in clinical psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University and her B.A. in psychology from Duke University. She completed her APA-accredited internship at Zucker Hillside Hospital (Northwell) and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center, where she later served as a supervising psychologist. Her scholarly interests center on the therapeutic relationship and the role of positive emotions in the process of change.
