Finding a psychologist who is a good fit, especially at the time of emotional crisis, can be challenging. To find someone who is empathic, but also direct and firm, who is not afraid to call you out when you most need it, someone who understands the real-life challenges of being a parent, teen, or young adult and who approaches challenges with a sense of humor and compassion, someone who has the right training, expertise, and schedule, can be daunting.
I am a CBT/DBT trained and practicing psychologist who is compassionate and direct. I have extensive experience and expertise working with clients struggling with peer relationships and/or dating issues, typical challenges of life, those experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, crisis, among other issues. I teach clients how to make positive changes by identifying and replacing maladaptive thoughts, patterns, and behaviors, to develop appropriate frustrtation tolerance and mindful acceptance.
I utilize each client's strengths to tailor treatment to their own individual needs. My goal is to provide my clients with coping skills they can use on their own and also help them identify what is personally meaningful to them and address barriers to life satisfaction and improved relationships.
I also have a particular interest and expertise in sport psychology. I use individually tailored guided imagery and progressive muscle relaxation, help clients to identify and change maladaptive self-talk and mental set, teach effective anxiety management and emotional regulation skills in order to optimize their performance.
