Melissa Fulgieri, LCSW is a psychotherapist licensed in New York and New Jersey who specializes in women’s mental health, childhood relational trauma, and intimate relationships. She works with adults and couples navigating anxiety, depression, self-doubt, life transitions, and the lasting impact of early relational and attachment wounds.

Melissa’s approach is relational, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that many struggles are not signs of pathology, but understandable responses to emotional neglect, chronic self-abandonment, and societal pressures to perform, accommodate, or stay disconnected from one;s own needs. In therapy, she helps clients slow down, make sense of their emotional patterns, and develop a deeper, more compassionate relationship with themselves.

Her work is especially attuned to relationship dynamics, including patterns of over-functioning, people-pleasing, emotional disconnection, and confusion around boundaries and desire. Melissa supports clients in cultivating self-trust, emotional clarity, and more secure, authentic connections—with partners, family members, and themselves.

In addition to her clinical work, Melissa is an adjunct professor teaching graduate-level family therapy and is the author Healing Relational Trauma, which explores how childhood wounds shape adult intimate relationships. She also has written Couples Therapy Activity Book. She brings warmth, depth, and thoughtfulness to her work, offering a steady, non-judgmental space where meaningful insight and emotional healing can take root.
