The experience of being a woman is complex and ever evolving, shaped by constant transitions across relationships, work, family, identity, motherhood, and the body itself. Many women carry conflicting emotions through these different stages of life (love with resentment, gratitude with grief, excitement with fear) and find themselves feeling isolated or ashamed when their emotional experience doesn't match how they believe they are "supposed" to feel.
I’m a Mount Sinai trained psychiatrist and psychotherapist, specializing in women’s mental health across the lifespan alongside couples therapy, Asian and Asian American mental health, and high-achieving students, professionals, and creatives. I provide thoughtful, comprehensive care by integrating therapy, medications when appropriate, and lifestyle interventions. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, but I draw from multiple modalities to tailor treatment to your unique background, needs, and goals. We decide together what will be most helpful to you.
Whether you're navigating pregnancy and postpartum, the transition to motherhood (matrescence), perimenopause, PMDD, relationship challenges, or another season of life, my goal is to create a space where every part of your experience can be explored with curiosity. Together, we'll work toward lasting change, cultivating greater insight, emotional resilience, healthier relationships, and a deeper sense of meaning. I am here to walk alongside you, building a therapeutic relationship that helps you navigate what’s urgent now with lasting impact through the longer arc of your life.
I provide care in both English and Mandarin. To learn more about my practice or schedule a complimentary introductory phone consultation, please email me or visit my website: https://www.mimichenmd.com/contact
I offer in-person appointments in my Flatiron office, telehealth visits, or a hybrid combination of both. Evening and weekend appointments are available to accommodate busy schedules. New patients can typically expect to be seen within 1 week of initial call, sometimes as soon as the same week.
