Melissa Nesle, LCSW, is a licensed psychotherapist with a private practice in Manhattan since 2004 with over 20 years of experience practicing extensively with young adults, couples and families in the area of mental health and substance misuse.

For the past 17 years she has worked for Columbia University Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry and has established a private psychotherapy practice with a specialty and passion for working with young women on issues of self-esteem, dating/relationships, separation, family issues, anxiety, depression, substance misuse and career changes.

After completing graduate work in 1994 at Simmons School of Social Work in Boston, she spent several years practicing individual, family and group therapy in dual diagnosis outpatient, residential, inpatient and day treatment settings in Boston, San Francisco and New York City.

Melissa’s approach is collaborative, flexible, interpersonal and non-judgmental. She strongly believes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach and that each individual brings their own set of unique strengths and needs to the table. She creates a warm and safe environment where she combines psychodynamic therapy with the use of her training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Meditation.

Additionally, she offers coaching for both men and women trying to navigate the ever-changing and complex landscape of on-line dating.
