Sometimes life stressors become more challenging than you can handle on your own and you might need extra support to work through these difficult times. When issues and conflicts are left unresolved, they lead you to feeling overwhelmed and spiral into a state of crisis. Mental health counseling empowers you to view yourself from a perspective that is more open to positive changes. The goal of therapy is to facilitate healthy communication and improve the relationships and functioning of the individual. I approach my clinical practice from a variety of theoretical orientations that fit with my client’s idea of change. I place a great deal of emphasis on establishing a strong therapeutic relationship based on authentic collaboration, patience and trust. I believe through a therapeutic partnership based on honesty, compassion and understanding, we can find healing and enjoy a more fulfilling life. My goal is to help build a deeper understanding and empowerment within the person to help create adaptive solutions for a meaningful everyday life. I hold a Doctor of Psychology degree and am licensed as a mental health counselor (LMHC) in New York. Additionally, I am dually licensed in California as a marriage & family therapist (LMFT) and professional clinical counselor (LPCC). I have over 15 years of clinical experience working with children, teens, families, and couples from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Among my areas of expertise are mood disorders, anxiety, pre-marital and couple counseling, parenting transgender and LGBTQ, academic issues, bereavement, chronic illness, spirituality, acculturation and trauma. I am also offer clinical supervision and have been an adjunct professor and supervisor for the Couple and Family Therapy programs at CSULB and Alliant CSPP.
