I am Suhana, a Columbia University trained, board-certified psychiatric NP and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Prescriber (PMH-C). I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment (med management) of ADHD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD. I practice from a holistic perspective and pride myself in upholding an LGBTQ+ affirming, body and sex positivity, and neurodiversity affirming practice. I take a special interest in helping patients navigate treatment options when taking medications for the first time or when considering whether continuing/changing medications is right for them. I am seeing patients both virtually and in-person in lower Manhattan (Tribeca office). I am very responsive, have current availability, and love what I do!
Suhana is a true New Yorker who was raised in Bushwick, Brooklyn. She studied Physics and Biology at Carnegie Mellon University before returning to NYC where she attended Columbia University for graduate training in psychiatry.
She has experience working in a variety of health care settings, including community health, large hospital systems, and in private practice. She has consistently been a leader and educator in the field, serving as mental health site director in a community setting, and regularly lecturing future clinicians at Columbia University before opening her own private practice in 2013.
When Suhana is not actively treating clients, you can find her fiercely advocating for children and adults with mental health challenges and special needs. Since 2019 she has been volunteering her time on the board of managers at the North Brooklyn YMCA where she is currently working on improving access to recreational and social programming for these groups.
Suhana lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and two children. She loves to travel, exercise, and cook up traditional Caribbean meals with her kids at home. You will often overhear her telling anyone that will listen to eat more whole, plant-based foods for optimal physical and emotional health.
