I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in NY and NJ. I am based in Queens, NYC and provide therapy to adults and children ages 10+ anywhere in New York State or New Jersey via video.

Therapy for adults . . .

I specialize in grief and loss, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I love working with caregivers, creatives, HSPs, and folks interested in social change. It can feel isolating to see the world differently than others, especially when friends and family don't seem to understand the forces that motivate you. Together we can process your experiences, make friends with your emotions, minimize burnout, and increase feelings of connectedness. My approach is psychodynamic and relational, and informed by CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and MI (motivational interviewing.) I am a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance of North America and am a climate-aware therapist.

Therapy for youth ages 10+ . . .

I work with children and adolescents who are experiencing grief, trauma, anxiety, and depression. I will take the time to get to know your child and make sessions a place that they can express themselves through play, art, or conversation. We will work together on identifying feelings and expressing them effectively. I have engaged many "hard-to-engage" kids so that therapy becomes a space that they can bring their genuine self without judgement. I will support you as a parent/caregiver by processing parenting challenges, enhancing communication with your child, and offering ways that you can model a healthy relationship to feelings. Parenting isn't easy, and I will be there as a resource.

My philosophy as a therapist . . .

My approach is rooted in respect for the inherent worth and dignity of each and every person. We were all children once, and I believe that every child is a genius, no matter their developmental stage, grades, cognitive scores, or (dis)abilities. This is because as children we are naturally inclined to learn from the world and people around us. We gain the skills we need to survive and thrive in the environment we are given. Our experiences in adulthood are shaped by our ingenious adaptations for safety, connection, and learning in childhood. If an adaptation no longer serves us, we can acknowledge our resilience. Then we can work toward gaining new habits and ways of thinking that serve us better now and in the future. In addition to the individual and relationship aspects of mental health, I am here to help process the impacts of cultural and societal factors, environmental issues, and the big problems of our time. All these elements have a place in the therapy space if they are affecting you.

I earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago, a master's degree from the Yale School of Music, and a Master of Social Work degree from Hunter College. I have worked in community and school-based mental health, app-based mental health, as well as in this private practice. Prior to finding my calling as a therapist, I had a career as a music composer and teacher.
