Psychologist
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in NYC with over 25 years of experience working in mental health. My clinical background and training are in CBT and mindfulness- and acceptance-based approaches and I specialize in treating depression and anxiety disorders (OCD, GAD, Panic, social anxiety, health anxiety). I also have expertise in addressing stress and coping with chronic health issues including pain. In addition to maintaining a private practice, I have been training graduate students and post-docs in the application of core CBT approaches for depression and anxiety for almost a decade.
I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Denver. I spent several years at a non-profit (OMNI Institute) in Denver where I led research and evaluation teams in community behavioral health before I transitioned back to focusing on clinical care. I maintain a role as a research consultant on clinical trials adapting and evaluating mindfulness-based programs for stress, depression, anxiety, and health conditions (including migraine, chronic pain, cardiovascular disease, cancer).
I am a certified Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) teacher and maintain ongoing personal practice, teaching, and supervision responsibilities that align with best practices outlined by international mindfulness organizations such as BAMBA (British Association for Mindfulness Based Approaches). I have been teaching MBCT since 2010. I have led the development of MBCT-Brief, an adaptation of MBCT aimed at making it more accessible. MBCT-Brief has been the subject of multiple clinical trials led by investigators at NYU, Cleveland Clinic, and other institutions, and has demonstrated good outcomes for depression and anxiety as well as stress and pain. I continue to teach MBCT and MBCT-Brief courses and train and supervise other MBCT teachers.
I am licensed in New York and in Ohio.
