I am a New York State licensed clinical psychologist with over fifteen years of experience working and training in leading psychiatric hospitals and providing psychotherapy.

I offer individual psychotherapy to young adults and adults, ages 18 years and older. I work with people who are experiencing issues of adjustment, anxiety, and/or depression, particularly due to stressful life circumstances and major life transitions. These may include challenges or changes at work or school (such as entering the workforce or shifting jobs or careers), family conflict, transitioning into marriage or parenthood, challenging relationships, or loss. I also specialize in working with people with high stress careers, as well as with new and expecting mothers through the challenges of pregnancy and parenthood.

My training and practice is largely psychodynamic. However I have also trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and systems therapy, making it possible for me to integrate my orientation with other theoretical perspectives and treatment modalities.

I believe in working supportively and collaboratively with you, my patient. I develop mutual goals and insight with you, and encourage you to be strength-focused and empowered to take charge of your mental health and well-being. My treatment is interpersonally and relationally focused. Through an empathic, yet direct approach, I aim ultimately to work towards helping you establish a positive quality of life by reducing your reactions to stressors, and enhancing your self-understanding. While I will offer direct and specific help with overwhelming symptoms when needed, the core of my longer-term work with you is focused on understanding your life circumstances and what has led to your current situation, and improving your ability to effectively handle the feelings associated with those aspects of your life and to feel more in control.
