Dr. Stephanie Leung, PhD, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with expertise in providing evidence-based psychotherapy to people across the lifespan who experience emotional difficulties and chronic medical illnesses (e.g., diabetes, cancer, chronic pain). She obtained her Bachelor of Sciences from Tufts University and her PhD in clinical psychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Dr. Leung’s doctoral research examined the mental health impact of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Leung completed her health psychology-focused internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven, CT, where she worked with multidisciplinary teams in medical settings including primary care, a cancer center, and an interdisciplinary pain clinic.

Dr. Leung has extensive experience developing, implementing and evaluating mental health treatment for adults with medical illness. After her fellowship, she worked as a Psychologist Care Manager in the Adult Medicine and Women’s Health Clinics at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center using the Collaborative Care Model. Dr. Leung went on to serve in the inaugural role of Director of Psychology at the Fleischer Institute for Diabetes and Metabolism and Fleischer Institute Weight Management Center at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. As the sole full-time clinical psychologist in the Department of Medicine, she developed and ran the behavioral health program. She also provided individual and group therapy to adults with medical conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disease, kidney failure, and overweight/obesity. Dr. Leung brings her passion for health psychology to her work at The Health Psychology Center of New York, where she provides gold-standard psychological treatment to patients with medical and mental health concerns.
