Hi! My name is Sarah Williams and I am a licensed clinical social worker in both Connecticut and New York. I received my Masters in Social Work from Boston College in 2009. I previously worked in a residential care treatment facility with clients managing eating disorders and an outpatient substance use treatment facility. I am now in private practice psychotherapy and work with clients who are in their 20s and 30s managing depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, and difficult life transitions including pregnancy, perinatal, and postpartum.
I work with clients who seek to explore their thoughts and emotions, how these feelings and thinking patterns connect to their experiences, and understand overall impacts on quality of life. My clients work to develop healthy coping mechanisms through self-reflection and therapeutic connection to better navigate their relationships, emotions, and life stressors.
I utilize a strength-based perspective while providing evidence based practices in treatment. These practices include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Dialectic Behavior Treatment (DBT). My framework includes a psychodynamic approach that's empathetic and collaborative. I believe healing begins through a safe and trusting relationship.
Sessions are collaborative, strengths-focused, and tailored to the client's pace. Together I support clients in adopting coping skills, developing deep self-understanding, enhancing interpersonal relationships, and creating lasting change so that clients can lead a more fulfilling life that feels authentic.
I currently see clients in both Connecticut and New York via telehealth.
