I am a NYS Licensed Psychotherapist in practice on NYC’s Upper Westside for 30 years. I maintain a practice in general adult psychotherapy treating a range of problems in living such as loss and depression, anxiety, interpersonal problems, and self-defeating behavior patterns including addictions

I have a specialization in early developmental and more recent-onset psychological trauma (PTSD and Complex-PTSD). I have completed training in the trauma resolution methods of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Somatic Experiencing (SE), as well as a two-year course of study with the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) on working with the Dissociative Disorders. These methodologies, in combination with my depth psychology training as a Certified Relational Psychoanalyst, inform and balance my clinical approach, allowing me to conduct intensive longer-term treatments, or to work in shorter, more focused ways with patients at different stages of self-exploration and healing.

My style is interactive, direct, and flexible.  I believe I bring a mixture of genuineness and empathy to my work while consistently motivating and encouraging patients toward incremental personal growth. I particularly appreciate working with individuals who are committed to creating meaningful lives, and I firmly believe that psychotherapy can be an effective component of this process.

In addition to my clinical practice, I serve as Executive Director, Faculty member, and Clinical Consultant for the Certificate Program in Trauma Studies at the Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis, where I am also a training analyst, and member of the psychoanalytic teaching and supervisory faculty. I have the privilege of teaching advanced courses on Trauma at several other distinguished postgraduate training institutes in NYC and of training to staffmembers at several university-based counseling centers.  I offer individual case consultaiotn and run consultation and  study groups for mental health professionals.

I hold a B.A. in Psychology (graduated magna cum laude with Departmental Honors) from Fordham University, and an MSSW (with Distinction) from Columbia University. I earned my Certificate in Psychoanlaysis (5-Year Program) at the Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis.

When not at work, I enjoy reading fiction and poetry, film, music, and hiking. I am an avid animal and nature lover.
