Psychologist, Psy.D.
I am a New York State licensed clinical psychologist and certified school psychologist. I am also certified in perinatal mental health (PMH-C), which involves the assessment and treatment of pregnant and postpartum parents, as well as their infants/toddlers. In addition to my private practice, I worked in a progressive, independent school setting for the last seven years, serving young children and a diverse parent community. In private practice, I work with children of all ages, adolescents, and adults. I especially seek to support parents and caregivers of all kinds. I have specific interests in anxiety/OCD, behavioral management, family relationships, learning and school-related problems, bereavement, parent-infant (dyadic) therapy, and young adulthood. I have received training in various hospital settings throughout New York City (Kings County, New York City Children’s Center- Bronx, and Mount Sinai St. Luke’s). I also completed postdoctoral training at the League Education and Treatment Center, a therapeutic school serving ages 5-21.
I work primarily through a psychodynamic and attachment lens, but utilize various cognitive-behavioral interventions depending on the presenting problem. I regularly use Exposure and Response Prevention as a treatment approach for anxiety and OCD. I also use aspects of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to address a wide range of presenting problems in young children. I have an active therapeutic approach and regularly provide interventions in other settings besides the therapy room, if clinically indicated. For instance, I can provide home visits for families with young children and perinatal populations. I also regularly consult with other providers and with schools, observing children in their classrooms. I believe that flexibility and creativeness is an important piece of the therapeutic relationship, especially when assisting children, young adults, and parents.
In addition to providing therapy, I consult with families on general child development and assist with referrals to other pediatric services if needed, such as Early Intervention and the Committee of Special Education. I also have a forensic practice in immigration. I work with attorneys to provide psychological reports for children and adults seeking immigration status through asylum or extreme hardship.
