I believe that therapy is collaborative process. Most important is the relationship: on connecting with you, creating safety for you, and allowing you to feel truly seen.
Those who seek my services are adults dealing with relationship issues, emotional ups and downs, family conflict, and more. I also specialize in working with those exposed to various types of trauma, which has resulted in symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress and low self-esteem.
My approach to talk therapy draws heavily from Gestalt theory. This is a body-centered, relational approach that focuses on bringing awareness to thoughts and feelings in the present moment. While doing this I support clients in developing deeper self-compassion for themselves and their experience. In turn, this process helps one to move through life’s challenges and make choices from a higher awareness.
Art psychotherapy is a creative approach to working with individuals that provides insight into thoughts and feelings that may or may not be hidden from one’s conscious awareness. Art making is a way to support clients in working through issues that are too painful to talk about initially, offering some distance and the ability to externalize trauma and/or pain through image and metaphor. I guide clients in the use of art materials and interventions as an alternative or as needed based on the client’s willingness and desire.
