Stephanie Verdeflor is an ANCC Board-Certified PMHNP known by colleagues as a “beam of light” for her ability to bring calm, clarity, and compassion to high-acuity environments. She has been a dedicated Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse since 2013 and has specialized experience across inpatient, emergency, crisis, and correctional mental health settings.

Stephanie began her psychiatric nursing career at the New York City Children’s Center in the Bronx, then worked at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Division (now NYP Westchester Behavioral Health) on The Horizon, serving Mature Adult populations with a specialty in culturally informed care for Orthodox Jewish communities. She also worked per diem at Gracie Square Hospital and the Westchester County Department of Corrections (Grasslands Campus), gaining experience in crisis stabilization and correctional mental health.

Her PMHNP clinical training continued within NYP, including rotations in Mobile Crisis, Geriatric Psychiatry, and on The Outlook (Eating Disorders Unit). As a PMHNP, she has worked in Young Adult Mental Health, Mood Disorders, Acute Psychosis, and the Second Chance Programs. She currently practices in the Women’s Mental Health Program at NYP Westchester Behavioral Health, treating women with anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, mood disorders, stress-related conditions, and complex psychiatric presentations during the reproductive life cycle transition.

Stephanie integrates evidence-based psychopharmacology with trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, emphasizing emotional intelligence, resilience, insight, and patient empowerment. In addition to her inpatient work, Stephanie teaches undergraduate nursing students as a Clinical Adjunct Instructor at Molloy University and precepts PMHNP students (Pace, Hunter, Columbia), emphasizing clinical reasoning, therapeutic presence, and stigma-free care.

Beyond clinical practice, Stephanie is deeply committed to mental health advocacy. She serves on the Board of NAMI Westchester and has co-Chaired their Annual NAMIWalks. She is Treasurer for the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) New York Chapter and Secretary for The Nurse Practitioner Association (NPA) New York State Region 6.

Her work has been recognized with the Clinical Nurse Excellence Award at NYP WBH (2019) and the APNA Award for Excellence in Leadership – RN (2021). Across roles, Stephanie brings a rare balance of expertise, humanity, and authentic presence, helping patients, students, and colleagues feel understood, safe, and supported.
