Dr. Sydney Shope, DNP, PMHNP-BC, is a Columbia University trained, board certified Doctor of Nursing Practice and Assistant Professor at Columbia University. 

She has particular expertise treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, and anxiety in children, adolescents, and adults. She uses psychotherapy, medication, or a combination of both in treating her patients. 

Sydney received her Bachelors of Science in nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree, and Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Columbia University School of Nursing. She is board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and is a licensed psychopharmacologist.

Sydney researched eating disorders, body image dysmorphia, and steroid usage at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and worked as an inpatient psychiatric registered nurse at Mount Sinai West. She currently treats children, adolescent, and adult patients at the New York Presbyterian outpatient psychiatry department. Additionally, as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University, Sydney teaches Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner students and is a portfolio advisor for Doctorate of Nursing Practice students. 

Sydney is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
