I work with adolescents, young adults, students, artists, professionals, pregnant and parenting people, and people with chronic illnesses from a relational psychodynamic, trauma-informed perspective, integrating mindfulness and EMDR where appropriate. I work with Center Psychology Group, a trauma-focused private practice, providing in-person treatment in midtown NYC and virtual sessions in New York State.
I am a psychodynamically-oriented psychologist dedicated to helping clients lead more self-directed lives. With warmth and empathy as my guiding principles, I work to create a safe and nurturing environment in which clients can explore the root causes of stress, anxiety, and emotional pain in their lives so they can move forward and thrive. I work with patients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, perinatal mood disorders and personality disorders. I also have been developing expertise in working with patients experiencing pandemic-related sequelae such as new chronic illness (ME/CFS, Long Covid, POTs); grief and loss; job and education losses; isolation; relationship changes; and related adjustment issues.
I completed externships in adult inpatient psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Beth Israel and integrated college counseling at The New School. My internship training was at Columbia University Irving Medical School with rotations in perinatal mental health and adult inpatient psychiatry and my doctorate in clinical psychology is from the Derner School at Adelphi University. In addition, I studied radical listening with Carol Gilligan at NYU, using the Listening Guide methodology to complete a dissertation exploring the experiences of women who have reported sexual harassment in workplaces.
Prior to my doctorate, I worked for many years in publishing, journalism, and film in NYC. I also hold an MFA from Columbia University and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College, both in creative writing. As a result of this lived experience, I have a special passion for working with and supporting creative professionals, journalists, filmmakers, writers, and artists.
