Dr. Vikas Gupta is a quadruple board-certified psychiatrist with expertise in adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, community and public psychiatry, and obesity medicine. He is the Founder and CEO of Wellness Psychiatry, a private practice integrating holistic wellness with evidence-based psychiatric care. A former Harvard Medical School faculty member and Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatrist, Dr. Gupta brings an academic rigor and thoughtful approach to clinical practice. His work is rooted in compassion, whole-person healing, and an inclusive lens that acknowledges the social, cultural, and biological factors that shape mental health.
Dr. Gupta has a special focus on women’s mental health and is deeply committed to advancing the emotional well-being of women across the lifespan. His clinical work includes treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, trauma and PTSD, postpartum depression and anxiety, eating disorders, and stress-related conditions. He is particularly passionate about addressing the unique mental health challenges faced by women in caregiving roles, high-stress professions, and life transitions. Through his private practice and collaborative partnerships, he supports women in cultivating resilience, reclaiming their wellness, and thriving in all aspects of life.
In addition to clinical work, Dr. Gupta is actively involved in national psychiatric leadership. He has served as Vice Chair of the American Psychiatric Association’s Annual Meeting Scientific Program Committee, Co-Chair of the Courses Subcommittee, and Chair of both the Poster and International Medical Graduate Subcommittees. He has contributed to question writing for PRITE exams and CME self-assessments for national organizations, helping shape educational standards in psychiatry. He is also a Clinical Essentials Committee member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, focused on advancing peer education in the field.
Dr. Gupta is proud to be a part of the Women’s Mental Health Consortium and sees his role as a male psychiatrist in this space as one of advocacy, allyship, and dedicated service. He believes that collaborative, trauma-informed, and culturally attuned care is vital to mental health equity for women. By integrating psychiatric expertise with nutrition, mindfulness, and lifestyle medicine, he strives to offer scientifically grounded and deeply human care. Dr. Gupta continues championing mental health initiatives that honor women’s voices and create space for healing, growth, and empowerment.
